Let the festivities begin! David Beckham switches on the Christmas lights in Singapore

The father-of-four was greeted by a crowd of over a thousand fans who turned up to watch him and the young girl turn a handle on an ornate jack-in-the-box at the Festive Light Up event at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

The football superstar, who is an ambassador for the iconic hotel, looked every the inch the suave gentlemen in a grey suit worn with a white shirt and a black skinny tie.

While at the event, David showed off his new inking on his left hand, the numbers, '723' which symbolises the shirt numbers he became famous for wearing during his time on the pitch.

David, who is married to Victoria Beckham, has recently been travelling round China promoting his latest business venture, Haig Club whisky.

On his Facebook page David wrote: "I touched down in Asia this past Wednesday.

"I can’t wait to visit with familiar faces while I continue my Haig Club journey from Scotland to the east."

In a later post he added: "Just landed in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Hong Kong," alongside a selfie of himself looking rather happy.

His appearance comes as it has been reported the Beckhams are installing underfloor heating in their London home - just in time for Christmas.
